MEDICALLY SUPERVISED RECOVERY
Ibogaine Treatment for Addiction
Our extended-stay programs give you the time and medical support to detox safely, prepare for ibogaine and recover afterward, especially for complex opioid and long-term medication dependence. Every stage is planned around your health, your history and your long-term goals.
What We Treat With Ibogaine
Ibogaine treatment can help with a wide range of substance dependencies, and many guests arrive using more than one substance. Choose yours to see how our program works for it. For depression, anxiety and PTSD, see ibogaine for mental health.
Opioids
Long-acting opioids need the most careful preparation. Fentanyl, methadone and Suboxone are the cases we treat most, and programs for methadone and Suboxone start at 4 weeks.

Kratom and 7-OH
Kratom and concentrated 7-OH products act on opioid receptors, so they need stabilization before ibogaine too. Programs take at least 2 weeks, and many guests need up to a month.

Ibogaine for 7-OH addiction →
Stimulants
Cocaine, meth and Adderall have to be fully out of your system before ibogaine, and your heart is checked carefully first. Programs usually run two to four weeks.

Ibogaine for Adderall addiction →
Alcohol
Alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous, so anyone still drinking detoxes here first, under a doctor’s care. The program can be as short as 1 week if you arrive sober; otherwise, plan on at least 2 weeks.
WHERE WE STARTED
Detox Is Where We Started. It’s Still What We Do Best.
We’re Iboga Treatment Center, a medically supervised ibogaine clinic in Ensenada, Mexico, founded by people who have been through detox themselves. We understand the fear, the physical toll and how much a safe, clinical transition matters, whether you’re coming off fentanyl, methadone, Suboxone or kratom.
That’s why we’ve spent years refining our stabilization protocols since opening in 2018, and why ibogaine is never given before your body is ready.
Plenty of our team members have gone through ibogaine personally, so the people looking after you know this road firsthand.
Safe Detox Before Ibogaine
Long-Acting Opioids, Handled on Site
Methadone and Suboxone stay in the body a long time. Our medical team manages the transition on site, so you never have to taper alone or guess when you’re ready.
Withdrawal Managed Medically
Your symptoms are monitored and treated around the clock. Medical staff are on site 24/7, and your safety and comfort come first.
Ibogaine When Your Body Is Ready
Treatment is timed to your progress, not a calendar. Ibogaine is given only once the medical team confirms your body is ready, with multiple doctors present, magnesium given alongside ibogaine and continuous cardiac monitoring.
One Team Throughout
The same medical team that prepares you stays with you, led by three medical doctors on staff. You get seamless care from arrival through integration.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Addiction Recovery Takes Time. Our Clinic Is Built Around It.
Many ibogaine treatment centers in Mexico offer a fixed stay of about a week for every guest, whatever they’re coming off. Ours is different. For addiction, we believe time is part of the treatment: time to stabilize and detox safely before ibogaine, and time to recover and integrate after it. That’s why extended stays are our standard of care.
How Long Are Ibogaine Programs for Addiction?
Programs run 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks, plus custom extended stays. Your length is set by your screening, your substance history and your progress. It’s a clinical decision, made with you.

HOW TREATMENT WORKS
Five Stages, Planned Around You
Every guest moves through the same five stages. How long each one takes depends on your medical needs, not a fixed schedule.
1. Medical screening
Before you’re accepted, our team reviews your health and substance history, with an EKG, bloodwork, liver and kidney tests, a medication review and a psychological assessment. Ibogaine affects the heart, so not everyone is a candidate.
2. Detox and stabilization
Complex dependencies such as fentanyl, methadone, Suboxone, kratom and 7-OH can’t be rushed into ibogaine. The medical team manages your transition and treats withdrawal as it comes. For some guests this takes days; for others, longer.
3. Ibogaine treatment
Given in a clinical setting under continuous cardiac monitoring, with multiple doctors present and magnesium given alongside ibogaine.
4. Physical recovery
In the days after, your body needs rest. We monitor your sleep, mood, energy and any remaining withdrawal while you regain strength and restore healthy nutrition.
5. Integration and extended aftercare
Our licensed counselors help you process the experience, identify the triggers behind your use and build a plan for life after treatment. Extended aftercare with supervised housing is available if you need more time. Learn more about ibogaine aftercare.
Ibogaine Addiction Treatment: Your Questions Answered
How long will I stay?
It depends on what you’re coming off and what your medical screening shows. Programs run 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks, plus custom extended stays, and 4 weeks is our most recommended program for daily or long-term substance use. Admissions will give you an expected timeline after reviewing your history, and the medical team adjusts it as you progress.
Who is the 7-day program for?
Select guests who arrive clean and don’t need detox or stabilization before ibogaine, when medical screening supports a shorter timeline. It’s decided case by case, and it uses the same medical team, the same cardiac monitoring and the same safety standards as our extended programs.
Is ibogaine safe?
Ibogaine carries real medical risks. The most serious is its effect on heart rhythm. So before anyone is accepted, we run an EKG, bloodwork and a medication review, and ibogaine is only ever given with continuous heart monitoring, several doctors present and magnesium alongside it. Screening lowers the risk, but no medical treatment is risk free, and we’ll tell you honestly if ibogaine isn’t right for you.
Who is not a candidate for ibogaine treatment?
People with certain heart conditions, including a prolonged QT interval, may not be able to receive ibogaine. Some medications and some medical or psychiatric conditions can also rule it out. This is decided case by case during medical screening.
Should I stop taking my medication or substance before I arrive?
No. Don’t stop or change anything on your own before speaking with us, because stopping suddenly can be dangerous. The medical team will give you instructions based on exactly what you’re taking. Transitions off long-acting opioids like methadone and Suboxone happen at the clinic, and our doctor manages benzodiazepines one guest at a time.
Which substances do you treat?
We treat dependence on fentanyl, heroin and prescription opioids, methadone, Suboxone, kratom, 7-OH, alcohol, cocaine, methamphetamine and Adderall. Many guests arrive using more than one substance, and the treatment plan accounts for that. We also treat depression, anxiety and PTSD; see ibogaine for mental health.
Does ibogaine cure addiction?
No, and you should be cautious of anyone who says it does. Many guests experience a major reduction in withdrawal symptoms and cravings, which gives them a real window to change. What you do with that window matters, which is why integration, aftercare planning and the option of an extended stay are built into our program. Individual results vary. Read real guest stories.
Can I stay longer after treatment?
Yes. Extended aftercare with supervised housing is available for guests who need more time, with continued structure and therapeutic support. You can decide this during your stay, together with the team.
What does treatment cost?
Your price is shaped by program length and your medical needs, including any detox or stabilization beforehand. Admissions will go over cost with you after your screening. Visit the ibogaine treatment cost page to learn more.
Why is the clinic in Mexico, and how do I get there?
The clinic sits in Ensenada, Baja California, approximately two hours’ drive south of San Diego. Our staff meet guests at San Diego International Airport and drive them to the clinic, crossing the border together. Admissions handles trip planning with you and sends a list of what to bring. Ibogaine is Schedule I under US federal law, which is why legal treatment takes place outside the country, at our clinic in Mexico.
