GUEST STORIES

Ibogaine Testimonials and Guest Stories

Real guests of Iboga Treatment Center share their ibogaine experience in their own words: what brought them here, what treatment was like and how life looks now. Every story is shared with permission.

In Their Own Words

What Our Guests Say

Sophie

Fentanyl

“I was using fentanyl every day for almost three years. I had tried everything — rehab, Suboxone, cold turkey — nothing stuck. The six-week program at Iboga Treatment Center gave me something no other place could: time. Time to actually heal, not just detox. The ibogaine took away my withdrawals, and the weeks after gave me my mind back. I’m over a year sober now and I never thought I’d be able to say that.”

Rachel

Alcohol

“I had done ibogaine before at another clinic — flew in, got the dose, flew home three days later. Within a month I was drinking again. When I found Iboga Treatment Center, they told me real recovery takes time, and they were right. My two months there gave me the space to actually deal with why I was drinking in the first place. The integration therapy, the smaller iboga sessions after the flood dose, the counseling — it all built on each other. I’m coming up on two years sober and I finally trust myself again.”

Q

Kratom and 7-OH

“Everyone thinks kratom is harmless until you’re taking it every few hours just to feel normal. Then I switched to 7-OH and it got even worse. I tried a regular detox facility and the withdrawals were brutal — I left after two days. Iboga Treatment Center was completely different. The ibogaine wiped out most of my withdrawals overnight, and the time I spent recovering after gave me clarity I hadn’t felt in years. Six months clean now and I actually feel like myself again.”

Tyler

Meth

“The weeks after the flood were where I started to feel things again. Real things. The sun coming through the window in the morning. A conversation with another guest. Tasting food again. I had forgotten that was possible. I’ve been clean for fourteen months. I’m not going to say it’s easy. But the difference between this sobriety and the ones I had after rehab is night and day. I actually want to be sober. That’s new.”

THE COMMON THREAD

Time to Heal

Read these stories and one word keeps coming up: time. Rachel had tried a three-day ibogaine clinic and was drinking again within a month. Sophie says time is what no other place could give her. Tyler says the weeks after his flood dose were when he started to feel things again.

That’s why Iboga Treatment Center was founded to run longer ibogaine programs for addiction instead of short retreats. We offer two-, three- and four-week programs plus custom extended stays, and four weeks is the stay we recommend most for daily or long-term substance use. Compare our ibogaine treatment programs.

Before You Decide

What These Stories Can and Can’t Tell You

These are real experiences, but they aren’t promises. Individual results vary, and how someone does depends on their health, what they were using, how long they stayed and the work they did afterward.

Ibogaine also isn’t safe for everyone. It can affect the heart, so every guest has a medical review with an EKG and bloodwork before treatment, and some people can’t be treated. Learn more about what ibogaine is and how ibogaine works.

Recovery doesn’t end when you leave, either. Every guest goes home with an aftercare plan, and our ibogaine aftercare page explains what support looks like after treatment.

Ibogaine Experience FAQs

Yes. Every story on this page comes from a real guest of Iboga Treatment Center who gave permission to share it. We use first names or initials to protect their privacy.

Everyone’s experience is different. Tyler compared his flood dose to “watching a documentary about my own life from the outside.” The effects last many hours, and our medical team monitors you the whole time. The days and weeks after are for rest, recovery and integration.

Not necessarily. Individual results vary. Your health, what you’re using, how long you stay and the support you have at home all play a part. Our medical team reviews every application and will tell you honestly whether ibogaine is a good fit.

There’s no single reliable success rate. Research on ibogaine is still early, most studies are small, and outcomes depend on screening, length of stay and aftercare. Be careful with any clinic that promises a specific success rate.

Tyler did a 30-day program, Sophie stayed six weeks and Rachel stayed about two months. Today we offer two-, three- and four-week programs plus custom extended stays, and four weeks is the stay we recommend most for daily or long-term substance use. See our ibogaine treatment programs.
